5 modes of transportation :

• Rail > lower cost, consistent time schedule, move large volume in bulk over long distance
• Road (include truck, buses and automobile) > provide door-to-door services, fast flexible services
• Air > high cost, suitable for high value, for emergency items
• Water > large volume, bulky cargo for long distance
• Pipeline > move only gas, oil
